ABSTRACT
The genus Haliptilon (Decaisne) Lindley is newly recorded in Korea. The observation of the thallus morphology as well as the vegetative and the reproductive anatomy of the Haliptilon plants were carried out with materials collected from Korea and Australia including the type specimen of Haliptilon roseum from PC. Korean Haliptilon plants showed some unique characters among species of the genus Haliptilon, especially in height, development of tendril-like stolon, branching pattern, shape and size of intergenicula, number of genicular and intergenicular medullary cell tiers, surface structure of intergenicular epithallial cells, reproductive structures, and presence of semiendophytic Choreonema thuretii. Identification of the species whether it is a new species or not is under the investigation. This paper deals with a first record on occurrence of the genus in the north-western Pacific.
