ABSTRACT
Morphology of Cyclotella pseudostelligera Hust. is studied in planktonic samples collected from the Naktong River estuary, Korea. In LM observations the species is distinguished by the distinctive roundish spots of mantle fultoportulae near the valve margin. The most significant feature of C. pseudostelligera is the irregularly repeated bifurcations of the costae mainly in the mantle; then, the complicated multiple twigs of the costae are formed near the mantle margin. The species differs from C. stelligera Cleve et Grun. in having the relatively long external processes of mantle flutoportulae, the irregularly repeated bifurcations of the costae forming complicated multiple twigs in the mantle and the more distant position of the mantle fultoportulae from the mantle margin.
