The Diatom Genus Coscinodiscus Ehrenberg: C. wailesii Gran and Angst

Coscinodiscus wailesii Gran and Angst has been examined for the morphlogical comparisons among Yellow Sea, South Sea and East Sea, and also comparisons between Korean specimens and those of the other countries. Korean specimens were showed some geographical variations; the valve diameters, number of areolae in valve face and mantle of the three localities of Korea were very similar, but number of marginal processes of East Sea specimens were more than those of Yellow Sea. Korean specimens were smaller than those of the specimens from other country. The areolae size of the Korean specimens were larger than subtropical specimens and others.
