ABSTRACT
Some species of microalgae have been utilized so far in various fields of scientific research and industry. They are holding public attention at present since they can use solar energy and are considered as good materials for keeping natural environment. Culture collection which maintains algal strains is required for the development of algal science. Main activities of culture collection of Institute of Applied Microbiology, University of Tokyo are to deep and distribute algal strains, to give information on the strains, and to hold a training course of algal research.
