Padina ryukyuana Lee, Y.P. et Kamura, a New marine Brown Alga from Southern Japan

ABSTRACT
A new marine brown alga, Padina ryukyuana, is introdued from Okinawa, Japan. The plants of the species are characterized by the small size without distinct basal structures and Vaughaniellalike basal appendages, calcification on both surfaces, the tristromatic construction, hairs born on both surfaces, tetrasporangial sori born on both surfaces, rhizoids issuing from the outer surface at base or in places on upper parts.
