ABSTRACT |
The red alga Porphyra pseudolinearis has dioecious lanceolate fronds that can be collected on rocky shores in upper intertidal zone during winter. Nuclear 18S ribosomal RNA gene (18S rDNA or SSU rDNA) from the algal tissue was amplified and sequenced. Complete 18S rDNA has an 1823 bp exon and a 584 bp intron. The G+C contents of exon and intron were 49% and 53%, respectively. The exon sequence showed 97.6% homology to the GenBank accession number AB013185 of the Japanese P. pseudolinearis. The intron region that is inserted in downstream between 1805 and 1806 showed 96.4% homology to the AB013185.
