| ABSTRACT |
|
This is the most comprehensive and accumulative check-list of Korean diatoms from the first record in 1929 to 1993, including freshwater, marine. brackish and even fossil forms. According to Simonsen's classification system(1979), the Korean diatoms are attributed to 1457 taxa in valid form which are composed of 1108 species, 3 subspecies, 38 forms, 300 varieties and 8 variety-forms, 67 taxa in unconfirmed form and 75 taxa in mistaken form and this check-list shows 1197 synonyms and 317 cross synonyms formerly in common use.
