ABSTRACT |
In order to study Paraphysomonas (Paraphysomonadaceae) from Korea, samples were collected at 7 dams during the period from May, 1991 to April, 1992. As a result 14 species and 1 subspecies for a total of 15 taxa were identified. Among these, P. butcheri, P. punctata subsp. punctata, P. caelifrica, P. subrotacea and P. subquadrangularis are recorded for the first time in Korea. According to the frequency of P. vestita subsp. vestita which appeared in 89% of the total samples (84) was the most common taxa, while P. gladiata appeared in 54%, P. imperforata appeared in 51% and P. takahashii appeared in 31% were also common taxa. Other taxa were found but with a poor distribution. When arranged in order of number of taxa appearances, the present condition of the study areas is as follows: Hapch'on Dam and Taech'ong-Dam 11 taxa, Damyang-Dam 10 taxa, Ch'unch'on-Dam 9 taxa, Kaldam-Dam, Ch'ungju-Dam and uiam-Dam 8 taxa, respectively.
