| A Check-list of the Fossil Diatoms in Korea

| ABSTRACT |
|
This is the first comprehensive check-list of fossil diatoms in Korea from the first record in 1936 to 1988. The classification system is presented and the list of species is followed in alphabetical order. According to Simonsen's classification system (1979), the Korean fossil diatoms are attributed to 2 orders, 5 suborders, 18 families, 5 subfamilies, 89 genera (including 13 uncertain genera), 266 species, 7 forms, 66 varieties and I variety-form. This checklist also shows 300 synonyms and 72 cross references of synonyms formerly in common use.
